Is it safe in Riga? |
Riga is not more dangerous than any other capital or big city in Europe. It probably feels more dangerous in Milan, Nord Station in Brussels or in Waterloo in London. Of course, pickpocketing is an issue, but not a huge one. No one grabs your purse in the daylight when you are surrounded by people.
Taxi drivers may charge tourists more, but in order to avoid it use red and yellow/green taxis, not a shabby looking ones with no signs on them. And ask for the price before the ride. Airport-center taxi drive shouldn't cost more than 10-12 Lats.
In restaurants you won't get ripped off. All the prices are in the menu and sometimes tips 10% are already included.
