Riga Russian Theater
The site has still has prices in Lats (LVL), pages are not updated since long long time ago, but in any case it stays as it is as a nice souvenir to old times.
Full name: Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian theatre (RRT) – the oldest Russian drama theatre outside of Russia. Was opened on October 2, 1883. So its 127 years old!
The RRT’s repertory presents both the Russian and world classics as well as works of young playwrights. The production group is often international as the theatre involves the creative recourses from all over the world.
The Theatre celebrated its 120th anniversary with a joint project (with the Edinburgh International Festival), and as a result, the Theatre’s repertory was enriched with “The Seagull" after A.Chekhov's play, directed by Peter Stein, "a living legend" of the European theatre. This project was one of the most important events in the cultural life of Latvia.
At the moment theater is being renavated.
Season 127 will begin on October, 2 - the theatre's foundation day -
with an opening of the production "I'm not Rappaport" after Herb
