Wedding Padlocks Bridge |
Padlock bridge is located in one of the most beautiful parks in Riga near the Freedom Monument and Bastejkalns.
The tradition is to put a padlock on a wedding day: lock it
and then throw the key in the water (when it's not frozen, of course).
The padlock can't be opened the same as marriage can't be divorced.
It is an old tradition, no one knows where it has started actually, but in Riga it's very popular - almost on every bridge you can find one or few padlocks.
Two months later and it's already Spring Time! And many new Padlocks are on the bridge:
