Standing on frozen Daugava river, Winter 2011 |
It's becoming my yearly tradition in the winter when Daugava river is frozen to give it a closer look.
Note: Before getting on the frozen river I made sure that the ice is thick enough and would not break.
The place where I stood had two levels of Ice: the movie shows the first level (~2 CM thick) that got cracked when stepped on it. Under this level of Ice there was a second level that was ~15 CM thick.
DO NOT try this by yourself! walking on a frozen river can be very dangerous without measuring the stability of the Ice.
